The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015. This year, we are celebrating 6th IDY on June 21. The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), on 27 September 2014 which is now being celebrated throughout the world.

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in wellbeing.

Everyday themes are different and are being shown live on Facebook Instagram, Twitter, Zoom and YouTube handles of CGI and SVCC. Many people are joing this event from all over Bali, Jakarta, India and other parts of world online. Theme for the first day on 15th June 2020 was ‘Yoga for Children” which started from 8.30 AM (Bali Time).

The session at 7.30 AM was also followed by the Consul of Timor Leste in Bali Mr. Hugo Garcia.
